Denture Ortegon Prosthodontics TX 77401Now that you have your new dentures you need to know what to expect and how to go about living with them. We are here to provide you with all that information. Learning to live with dentures will take some time, because it is quite a bit different from what you are used to.

You need to learn how to care for them and wear them. For right now we are going to go over why you need an adhesive. There are a few different reasons why you may want to use it, and we are going to go over what it will do for you.

How Can Denture Adhesives Benefit You?

Getting used to dentures is going to take some time. Your gums are still going to need some time for the new adjustment. In the beginning your gums will be sore and there will be some swelling.

We will recommend that you come in so we can see how things are healing up, and so we can make some adjustments so that they fit properly. We can discuss with you what kinds of adhesives are available for purchase and how they each of them will make living with dentures a little easier.

Adhesives are a good way to make sure your dentures have a good cushion between them and your gums to avoid discomfort. That will also help keep them in place. Having them move around in your mouth while you are trying to eat or talk can be frustrating.

It can also help keep food particles from getting between your dentures and your gums. Some people use an adhesive as a sense of security when they have them in.

With tons of different options out there it can get to be a little overwhelming picking out the right product for you. We are here to help make suggestions, so don't be afraid to ask. An adhesive in not a necessity when it comes to having dentures. Properly fitting dentures should stay in without pain or discomfort once everything is all healed up.

You should definitely make sure you have them with you when you come in for your visit, because it is important to examine them along with your gums. Your dentures should last you between five to ten years, depending on the wear and fit of them.

As we age our jaw will change so it is important to make the right changes with you. We want to remind you that regular office visit are still important, even though you have replacement teeth. Please call us with any questions or concerns regarding your dentures, or to schedule an appointment.
