How to Increase the Longevity of Dental Bonding

Dental Bonding is a great way to touch up those imperfections. If you have spaces between some of your teeth, it can be used to fill them in perfectly. If you chip a tooth dental bonding can make it look like it never even happened. It can also be used to cover up stained teeth.

Dental bonding is done by a cosmetic dentist. It can last for anywhere from a year to ten years. Here are some tips to make sure your dental bonding lasts a long time.

How to Take Care of Your New Smile

Dental bonding is made up of a resin material that is applied to the front and the back of your tooth/ teeth. Once it's applied it's then hardened with a special light or laser.

It's important that you take care of your teeth the same way you did before. Brush two times a day and floss once a day. The bonding on your teeth can collect buildup of plaque just like your real teeth.

Be careful of what you eat or drink. Things like hard candy or chewing ice can do a lot of damage fast. You will also want to avoid opening things with your bonded teeth. No chewing on pens. Beverages like wine and coffee can stain your teeth, so keep that in mind.

Dental bonding is a great way to go to help you get your confidence back. It's usually more affordable than doing veneers and leaves more of your real tooth behind. Check with your insurance to see if dental bonding is part of your plan and if they cover a portion or all of the procedure.

Bonding on average will take between 30 to 60 minutes per tooth. For more information, schedule a consultation with your dentist. They will be able to give you an idea of what they can really do for you.
