Are Implant Supported Dentures for You?

Posted on 5/17/2016 by Sergio Ortegon
An elderly man happy with his new implanted dentures. There are many ways to replace missing teeth, among them implant supported dentures. If you are considering dentures, you may want to explore this more secure option in order to give yourself the many benefits that they offer.

The process is obviously more entailed than regular dentures, but in the end, you are left with teeth that do not move and provide you with many of the same benefits that your natural teeth once provided.

The process is broken down into three parts. The first part is the surgery. This is when your implants are placed in your mouth. After the surgery is completed and the implants are placed, your mouth needs three to six months to heal from it.

You will have the stitches removed after around one week and be able to resume normal eating and oral hygiene habits once the stitches are gone, but your gums will not fully heal, nor will the implants completely adhere for several months.

Once the area is healed, we will perform another surgery that places the caps on the implants. This helps to promote healing and gets the area ready for the dentures.

Once you are completely healed and impressions have been taken for your dentures, we will fit the dentures on the implants, giving you a full mouth of functional teeth that are ready to smile, eat, and talk with ease!
